Recently I heard someone refer to Extreme Horror and Splatterpunk as “body horror” and my head just about exploded. I have gotten used to the idea that terms like Splatterpunk and Extreme Horror have basically switched definitions in modern genre lexicon, but let's not get ridiculous. Please forgive me if that comes off rather curmudgeonly, but some words really need to stay as they are. Changing “Splatterpunk” to “Body Horror” makes as much sense as calling all motor vehicles Jeeps. So, I thought I would explain what body horror is and is not.

A lecherous photographer gets his comeuppance when he's hunted by spandex-clad models in sexploitation veteran Jack Bravman's final feature film, Centerfolds From Hell. Bravman, a Quebec native, returned to his home province in the 1980s to make a handful of low budget genre films to take advantage of Quebec tax credits available at the time. His final effort, 1992's Centerfolds From Hell never saw an official home video release even though it's among their better productions, a sci-fi twist on Scrooge that heavily features former Penthouse magazine centerfold Dominique St. Croix as a Goddess-figure who delivers a pointy arrow of enlightenment into the posterior of the film's sleazy protagonist.

Young bride to be Kate Barrett is kidnapped off of a desert road. It is up to Deputy Langley, a cop who would rather have target practice while listening to his “heavy metal hearing aid” than actual police work, to find the young woman. Once Langley tracks down Kate however he learns about just who kidnapped her and the two find themselves stuck in literally in the past. Time is running out for Kate and Langley the two must find out how to destroy the evil that has plagued the “ghost town” for decades or just become a page of the towns horrible history themselves.
